1 (21 oz.) can cherry pie filling
1 (8 ½ oz.) can crushed pineapple, undrained
1 cup almonds
1 ½ cups semisweet chocolate morsels
1 cup flaked coconut
1 (18.25 oz.) box of chocolate cake mix
½ cup butter
Cool Whip as topping
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 13x9 baking dish.
Pour the cherry pie filling into the prepared dish and spread evenly.
Mix pineapple, almonds, chocolate morsels, coconut, cake mix and butter. Pour over cherry pie filling in dish.
Cover with foil and bake 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake 20 minutes longer.
Use the chocolate cake mix as an ingredient; do not bake the cake mix as directed on the box. Also, I typically bake this cake in a bundt pan to add a "pretty" look to the presentation. Very easy recipe and very rich. :)
